MIKE'S BLOG
3 Month Blitz Feb 22, 2008 at 11:46am
From February 18 to May 18 we are having a Membership/Discipleship Blitz to grow our congregation before our chartering on May 18th. Palmetto and our parent church, Mount Pleasant Presbyterian, will work together to promote the mission and ministry of our new congregation as we prepare to charter.

In the meantime, the signs are up on our property and our church building plans are available for review. We will kick-off our capital campaign in April and will break ground this summer.

Join us during this Lenten Season for Sunday school and worship on Sunday mornings at Laing Middle School. On Palm Sunday we will have an Easter egg hunt and picnic following worship, on Maundy Thursday (March 20th) we will have a communion/Tenebrae service, and our first Easter together will be a memorable day—so plan now to attend!

Blessings,
Mike
Palmetto Update Feb 11, 2008 at 2:11pm
The author of Proverbs writes: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” I would add that at some point action must follow vision!

On Pentecost Sunday (May 27, 2007) when we held our first service at Palmetto, we had a vision for a new community of faith. With God’s help and committed action on the part of our new congregation that vision is becoming a reality:

    --The congregation is growing.

--We are involved in worship, mission, and building community through wonderful fellowship events and creative worship services.

--We are learning, thanks to a dedicated Christian Education team.

--Our dream for a church “home” to house our ministry is getting closer every day:
The signs are up on our property in Carolina Park.
    The site plan is complete.
We will soon reveal the church plans.
Our Capital Campaign Team is organized and ready to begin work.
The greater community is getting to know Palmetto through our local mission involvement and
    the excitement of our members.
We have set a date for our chartering—May 18, 2008.

Please keep Palmetto in your prayers and be sure to invite a friend or neighbor to worship with us soon.

Palmetto Happenings Feb 1, 2008 at 10:00am
This Sunday our youth will be at the door holding pots for your donations to Souper Bowl Sunday.

Make plans to attend our Ash Wednesday Service THIS week, February 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria at Laing Middle School. This is a most meaningful service and will help us prepare for the season of Lent (child care will be provided).

By now you should have received your February newsletter. As you can see, there is excitement at Palmetto, and we are blessed with gifted, committed members.

Mark your calendars now for May 18, 2008. That is the day we charter and become an “official” church.

Help us grow the congregation by inviting a friend, neighbor, or relative to worship in the coming weeks.

Blessings,
Mike
PPC's First Annual Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-Off Jan 14, 2008 at 2:09pm
The Palmetto Oyster Roast & Chili Cook-Off on Friday, January 11th, was a HUGE SUCCESS! Lots of people . . . good food . . . fun activities. See the pictures below.

Thanks to our Men's Ministry led by Buck Rogers and our Fellowship Team led by Beth Taylor.

By the way, several of the folks attending Friday were in worship Sunday morning. It's exciting to see all the new faces.

Blessings,
Mike
