“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
pray without ceasing – seems impossible
worry without ceasing – oh, hmm
I’m weird old school . . . I love excel spreadsheets. They are linear and predictable and neat. Every day I work with them and appreciate the way they work. When questions come up or something doesn’t match; there are all kinds of queries that help locate the issue. And then lots functions help fix it – cut – copy – paste – merge – replace. One can replace a value with another and no matter how many instances count on the algorithm to replace all.
We aren’t excel spreadsheets but we are pretty good at creating ways to cope when life’s questions, challenges, illnesses, disappoints show up.
Don’t we use our own approach – worry, plan, do, avoid, compromise, strategize, ignore, research, cook, eat, worry some more – without ceasing?
God asks us – in all things – pray. Be with Him and give all concerns, heartaches, worries, joys, hopes, and dreams to Him. During this season of Lent – trust God – replace your go to strategies with prayer for yourself, your family, and for others – in all things great and small.
What can you replace with prayer today?
