It is that time of the year when we honor our graduates and the focus is on this major “milestone” in a person’s life … regardless of the graduation, be it from kindergarten, high school or college. The good news is the graduate has finished one leg of the life journey and is ready to move on.
In my sermon yesterday, I said as Christians we never really “graduate” from this journey we call faith. The course of study or training is on going until we take our last breath. I am not sure many church folk believe this though. Some think they are too old for any more Bible study or “classes.” They will come to worship, but are not engaged in any other serious study. Of course this journey of faith is more than just study. We never graduate from the need for prayer, for doing missions, for sharing the love of Christ with others, etc .
This summer our session and Christian Education Team will be introducing some new opportunities for inter-generational worship, study, mission and fellowship. We are excited about the opportunity to do something out of the box. We are calling our new emphasis “Faith Formation for Families,” and this will kick off in July with some new, and I think, exciting events here at the church on Sunday afternoons. Listen for more information about our “Second Sunday” beginning July 8th.
To our 2018 Graduates, we wish you blessings and offer our prayers!
Have a great summer!
