“And the angel of the Lord said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great JOY, which shall be to all people.”

Luke 2:10

Each year, during the four weeks of Advent, we light the candles of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

If I had to pick one theme for our ministry in 2019 it would be JOY.

We have been blessed in so many ways, and for me personally worship has been a JOY . . . our new staff members have been a JOY . . . our new members have been a JOY . . . our many, many mission and outreach opportunities have been a JOY. Working with our session has been a JOY, moving forward with the construction of our pavilion has been a JOY, and an unexpected but welcome JOY has been this year’s giving.

Sunday, my sermon was about dreams, and never in my wildest dreams did I think we would end a year with our giving exceeding our expenses by such a large margin. One of the sad notes of 2019 was the loss of our dear friend, elder, finance team member and longtime treasurer, Kerry Goldmeyer. Your generous giving this year is a wonderful tribute to Kerry and a part of her legacy as she worked so hard to teach this congregation about the JOY of giving.

My prayer is that 2020 will be another year of JOY, of hope, of peace and of the Christian love you all exhibit every Sunday when we gather to worship.

I look forward to our two Christmas Eve services, which always bring me JOY. I hope to see you here!

Merry Christmas,
