Ministry Together

Ministry Together

This coming Sunday is World Communion Sunday, the day we gather with other (but certainly not All) churches around the world to celebrate the Lord’s Supper. At our church we will also have a congregational meeting to elect elders to serve in the class of 2022, and we will elect five persons to serve on the 2020 nominating committee. In addition, we will be lining up ministry team leaders for next year who will be serving in every manner imaginable from building and grounds to missions!

The point is “You can’t be a Christian by yourself,” and the only true way to do ministry is TOGETHER.

It never occurred to me before my call to ministry that a big part of MY calling as your pastor was to help you see your gifts for ministry and help you answer your call, which could be a call to serve as an elder, to teach, to chair a ministry team, sing in the choir, or be one of the church’s top givers.

We all have unique gifts, and at Palmetto, there is a place for you to use your gifts to serve. The shorter catechism says the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. I believe we do that by using our resources to glorify God and make the world, or at least our community, a better place.

I want to thank our 2019 nominating committee for their efforts in bringing to us a slate of elder candidates for the 2022 class. I also want to thank those who chair our ministry teams and those who serve on one of the teams.

If it seems like a big challenge to find people to serve in the church, let me remind you that this has always been the case—even in biblical times. BUT . . . the Holy Spirit is always working in the midst of God’s people.

Isaiah 6:8: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Are you being CALLED to serve somewhere in our ministry this coming year? If so, what will be your answer?

Blessings,

Mike
