Recruited…Or…Led by the Spirit

Some folks are really good at sales . . . I am not. Therein lays the problem! Evangelism and growing a church is some part good salesmanship and some part Spirit led. Don’t ask me the percentage, I have no idea.
Evangelism is about making disciples and bringing new folks into the community of faith. But the salesmanship does not end there. Church leaders have to constantly encourage/coerce/beg/threaten/blackmail folks in the church to use their talents and gifts.
Well, it is that time of the year again at Palmetto. We have a small staff, mostly part-time, attempting to grow our ministry and nurture our congregation in the faith through worship, Christian education (faith formation), missions, and Christian fellowship. And along the way we have a building to maintain and grounds to take care of.
When you joined the church, we asked you to find at least two ways outside of worship where you could exercise your talents and gifts. In August, our nominating committee will begin work prayerfully “recruiting” five persons to serve on the session in the class of 2021.
Right now, we need leaders on Team Palmetto. Some of our chairs have been working for more than two years and we need new folks to step up. There are some relatively easy things to do RIGHT NOW that will make a difference in our ministry:
Sign up to bring flowers one Sunday for the sanctuary
Help with refreshments for fellowship
Help with children’s church or the nursery
Serve on one of the Ministry teams
Bring items for the monthly mission collections
Don’t wait to be recruited . . . trust the Holy Spirit and step out of your comfort zone and serve the Lord by serving the church.
Let’s see how good I am at sales!
Hope to see you this Sunday for SECOND SUNDAY . . . It’s going to be great!
Blessings,
Mike
