CAT Survey:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CAT?

The CAT is a survey designed to assess a congregation’s health and vitality and to get a sense of the congregation’s priorities in looking ahead.   This information will be crucial to our church’s future direction and to the selection of our next pastor.

Who developed the CAT?

This assessment tool was developed by Holy Cow! Consulting.  It is highly recommended by experienced interim pastors.  Because it is a standardized survey, some questions may seem more relevant to our church than others.

Who at our church is leading this process?

The Session appointed a Mission Study Task Force to lead the process of gathering information that will help shape the future direction of the church.  Task force members are Derrick Apple, Paula Custer (co-chair), Coby Frampton, Nan Mann, Hank Maxwell (co-chair), Julia Shively, and Carol Thiesing.  After the data is gathered, the task force will discern prayerfully how it can help us set future goals.

How do I take the CAT?

The CAT is an online survey that you can access at www.surveymonkey.com/r/PALMETTOPCSC

I’m not internet savvy.  How will I take the CAT?

Please contact the church office (gsquires@palmettopreschurch.org) and you will be connected with a member of the Mission Study Task Force who will give you whatever assistance you need.

Who will see my answers?

All survey responses are strictly anonymous.  They go directly to Holy Cow! Consulting, who will compile them.

How long will it take me to complete the CAT?

People typically complete the CAT in 25-30 minutes.  This may seem like a long time, but please remember that our church is in a crucial and unprecedented transition time and we need your input in a number of different areas.  You must take the CAT in one sitting; if you are interrupted, you will have to start over.

What if there are questions I can’t answer or don’t want to answer?

That is just fine!  You will be able to opt out of answering any question on the survey.

How long will the CAT be available for me to take?

The survey will be available online from Sunday, May 7, through Wednesday, May 31.

Should I discuss the CAT with other people?

It is best not to discuss your answers with people who have not already taken the CAT.  We need everyone’s individual input.  But please urge others to take the survey!

Will I be able to see the survey results?

A summary (1-2 pages) of the survey results will be given to everyone in the congregation.  The complete compilation of results is quite lengthy and will be available upon request.

What if I have other questions?

Please contact any member of the Mission Study Task Force.  Their contact information is in the church directory, or you may get the information from the church office (gsquires@palmettopreschurch.org).
